About Trogir

Trogir, Split-Dalmatia, Croatia.

Trogir is a small island town just west of Split, known for its old stone streets, waterfront promenade, fortified walls and layered Mediterranean history.

Its historic centre is protected by UNESCO and offers one of the most concentrated old-town experiences on the Croatian coast: churches, palaces, towers, small squares, sea views and a relaxed summer rhythm.

2300+ years of history

Trogir grew from the ancient Greek settlement Tragurion into one of the most atmospheric towns on the Adriatic.

1997 UNESCO status

The historic centre is protected as a rare example of continuous urban life through many centuries.

City story

More than 2,300 years of urban tradition.

Trogir was founded by Greek colonists in the 3rd century BC as Tragurion. Through the centuries it was shaped by Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, the Habsburg Empire, the French, Yugoslavia and modern Croatia.

Venice ruled the city after 1420 for almost four centuries, leaving a strong architectural and cultural mark. Today, the old town feels like an open-air museum, but still lives as a real coastal town full of cafés, restaurants, apartments, boats and evening walks.

Old town

Stone streets, small squares and a waterfront made for evening walks.

Trogir is compact, walkable and full of narrow lanes, hidden courtyards, churches, palaces and terrace restaurants. It is one of those places where guests naturally slow down, take photos and stay longer than planned.

Architecture

Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque details in one small island town.

The town carries layers of Greek, Roman, Venetian and Croatian history. The Cathedral of St. Lawrence, Kamerlengo Fortress and the old harbour promenade are among the most recognisable parts of the city.

Today

A relaxed Dalmatian stop for food, coffee, drinks and summer nights.

Miki’s Food & Bar fits naturally into this rhythm: easy food, drinks, a warm local atmosphere and a central location for guests exploring the old town before or after the waterfront.
